The
Minor section (8 - 11) was introduced in 2003 with the longterm
aim of developing players through from Minors, Juniors, Under 17's,Thirds
etc right to the top-flight of the Club. The personal development
of each member involved may never be measured but we are committed
to the health and safety of these players, who are in essence the
future of the Club.
The Junior section is currently thriving with a membership well in excess of 50. In 2005 they competed in several competitions, both friendly and competitive, bringing silverware to the Club in the shape of the Carrickfergus Cup and the Drogheda Cup. 2006 has got off to an exciting start with the Club entering the NIWFA Junior league in its inaugural season with the under 14 section losing the final of a closely fought game against the Predators. After affiliating to the CYP (Clubs for Young People) the under 12 section of the Club won the through the local heats to represent Northern Ireland and went to Derby to compete against teams from Scotland, England and Wales.
Raiders will be organising friendlies for the Juniors and details of these will be posted on the website in due course. Training for the Junior section of the Club is now outdoors on grass at the Valentine pitches in Bangor behind the Cineplex on Monday evenings from 6.45 until 8.00pm. If you would like to join the Club and participate in the fastest growing sport in the world then simply come along any Monday evening. The coaches hold UEFA A and B licenses and parents can be assured that the girls are being coached in a safe and controlled environment. For more information contact Kim Funston on 0776 624 3308.
